Terms when ordering are important and if not properly understood can lead to errors in production. We often receive prints that request Phenolic tags when the customer is actually seeking normal Lamicoid engraving plastic. Outside the engraving community the term Phenolic is casually and incorrectly used to refer to any and all flat engraving stock materials. Phenolic material is no longer used in most engraving shops because it is brittle, difficult to cut and engrave, and commonly believed to shed carcinogenic dust during machining.
