Burnished Plates
Burnishing is a surface marking technique intended for coated metal where the coating is removed to expose the bare metal.
Burnished Anodized or Painted Aluminum
Anodized or Painted Aluminum has a colored top-coated surface. Burnishing through this surface reveals the aluminum core. When anodized aluminum is “acid-washed”, the text darkens. Painted Aluminum retains its “aluminum” core color with no contrast.

Lacquered Brass
Smooth black letters that look rich against the bright gold surface when burnished with a rotary carbide cutter and then acid-washed. The resulting technique is valued for plates for trophies, award plaques and distinctive signage.

Anodized and Painted Brass
Has a colored top-coated surface. Burnishing through this surface reveals the shiny bright brass core. This appealing contrast of a bright gold brass core against a usually dark-colored surface is an alternative labeling choice for distinctive signage.
